Programme Note

This theatrical vocal piece was first created for the Music Is Very Important ensemble’s performance at the VIRUS Art festival in Šiauliai in 2009. Having worked with the group for a long time, I created a very open score with minimal instructions. It was designed to be easily memorized, and to provide a lot of space for interpretation and theatrical movements, which were a feature of the group. The names in the score refer to the Music Is Very Important collective’s performers at the time. The score was later performed in a more ‘static’ form, like a concert piece, at the Vilniaus Veidai festival. In 2010, the piece was arranged for six performers, and this time it was aimed at a performance by the ARCO collective at the Milton Keynes Arts Gallery in the UK.
