Programme Note

‘Dainelė’ was written for the newly created ensemble “Subtilusis Trio” at that time. The song combines three melodies of completely different natures: a child’s song, a woman’s song, and a shamanic chant. All three instruments gradually transition from one world to another. This idea defines the form of the work, with contrasting divisions that, when combined, reveal a single narrative. The timbres are especially important in this piece, as they become the main features reflecting different worlds.
