Programme Note

KRAGRAGA was commissioned by Geiger Betong and premiered in 2016 at the GEIGER festival in Gothenburg. It is a graphic score for eight instruments and a conductor, allowing for plenty of room for interpretation and improvisation. Some parts of the score have headlines such as “The Swirl,” “The Fight,” or “The Beautiful Melodies,” which have sparked discussions and even physical dramas on stage. The score includes graphical details to be played, such as blueberries, monsters, eyes, mathematical signs, birds, and more. “And how, as an orchestra, to interpret the waves reversing in time? An eccentric and philosophical work, and a blast to play.” – says GGR Betong’s Emine Grey.
